I recently shot the wedding of some good friends of mine Rebekah + Jordan Hunter. It was a wonderful day and a big privilege to be their wedding photographer. The day was shot entirely on 35mm film at Roma Street Parklands in Brisbane Australia. I have posted one of my favourite images from the day below along with a selection of the rest you can check out if you click 'continue reading' - hope you like them : ) Continue reading

I was recently commissioned by Griffith University and to create a live music video and a short documentary style video portrait on a Gold Coast musician by the name of Aquila Young. For the documentary the brief was to make a creative portrait of Aquila that captures her essence as an artist whilst also showcasing the Gold Coast as a unique tourist destination. Aquila and I chose to run with the theme of light and dark which is a theme that runs through all Aquila Young's music. To showcase the Gold Coast in a way that wasn't cliched I decided to film at iconic Gold Coast locations but at unusual times so that these spaces commonly used to promote the Gold Coast can be seen in a different light. To capture the theme of light and dark I decided to film in black and white and use high contrast light and shadow to visually tell Aquila's story. With the live video the only guideline was that it had to be filmed in an iconic Gold Coast location so we chose the Gold Coast Arts Centre. Both projects were a lot of fun to work on and it was a great experience capturing Aquila in such beautiful settings. I have included both videos below along with a few 35mm film photos I shot during the filming. VIDEO PORTRAIT AQUILA YOUNG - LIGHT AND DARK from Danny McShane on Vimeo. I recently got to make a music video for Georgia Mae who was definitely one of the raddest wizards I've ever had the good fortune to collaborate with. It was an awesome experience making this clip - Georgia is an incredibly talented musician and a great person too - if you're not following her already you should definitely get on that. Huge thanks to Phoebe Galloway for the edit too - we shot a lot of footage and Phoebe did an epic job making sense of it all. Hope you enjoy watching this one as much as I enjoyed making it! I have included some photos I've shot of Georgia in this post as well if you're interested - you can check them out after the jump. Continue reading

I photographed the elopement of Daniel and Erica at Cradle Mountain in Tasmania on Friday 16th January. It was a really cool experience to document such an intimate wedding in a place as beautiful as Cradle Mountain. Here are some of my favourite images - for the full set CLICK HERE. All images shot on 35mm and Medium Format film.

My video portrait on beautiful singer songwriter O' Little Sister premiered on Saturday 1st March 2014 in my friend Isaac's backyard. It was a beautiful night and a great way to premiere the film. If you're interested in checking it out its now online - hope you like it!

Here's a really bad photo I took on my iphone of Luci nervously watching the audience watch the film : )

Over the past year I was lucky enough to photograph the incredibly talented Brisbane based singer-songwriter O' Little Sister. I'm a huge fan of her music and was stoked to work with such a great musician. I shot this project on my Canon EOS 1VHS, Mamiya 645 Pro TL and Olympus OM10 with Kodak Portra 160/400/800, Fuji 400H and Superia 1600 and Ilford HP5 400 and Delta 3200. Processing and scans were done with Prolab in South Brisbane. This was a really fun project and I hope you like the shots. You should also check out her music: Continue reading
