Danny McShane is an award winning filmmaker and photographer based in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.
Danny grew up surfing and making surf films in Coffs Harbour, NSW. When he got his driver’s license he spent as much time as he could exploring the beautiful east coast of Australia. It was during this time he developed a passion for landscape photography.
Whilst driving up and down the coast surfing and learning how to shoot photos he was also studying a Bachelor of Business with a major in Marketing at Southern Cross University. In 2005 he completed the degree with a three-month internship at Euro RSCG Advertising Agency in Brisbane where he gained experience telling stories through copy writing.
He then undertook a Bachelor of Film and Screen Media at Griffith Film School in Brisbane where he created a number of award winning short films including “IMAGINARY ordinary” which earned him Best Tertiary Drama at the 2007 Queensland New Filmmaker Awards.
Since graduating in 2008 Danny has directed commercials, music videos, and more award winning short films including “As If That Would happen In Real Life” which won him the 2010 Regent Film Festival.
As a photographer Danny shoots predominantly on Medium Format and 35mm film and brings his instincts as a filmmaker to his photographic work, paying careful attention to lighting, composition, storytelling and character. He is currently developing a variety of film and photographic projects and very rarely sleeps.
